The Indiana Pacers played their final game of the season against the Lakers. On Wednesday night, it was the only time that the team got to take on LA at home. With the Lakers in a playoff position and the Pacers tanking, it wasn’t expected to be close.
Indiana made it close in the fourth quarter, but they still lost the game. That’s what the Pacers wanted, as they would be pleased to have the worst record in the league when the regular season is finished. That would enhance their chances of grabbing the top pick in the 2026 NBA Draft.
Fever guard Caitlin Clark attended the game. She attends a lot of Pacers games over the course of the year. It wasn’t unusual to see her at the game. What was unusual was to see what role she was playing.
Caitlin Clark Was a Credentialed Photographer for Pacers Game
For this game, Clark was a photographer who was actually credentialed. She had a great time taking pictures before, during, and after the game.
Clark didn’t get to see a very good game from Indiana in the first three quarters. The Pacers were down 20+ points for most of the second half, but they did make a fourth-quarter comeback. Still, Clark seemed to enjoy having this new role while she was attending one of their games.
Indiana is hoping to land a superstar like Clark in the 2026 NBA Draft. They are hoping to land the number-one overall pick, which is something they have never had in their franchise’s history. While it’s unclear which top prospect they would draft with that pick, they are hoping to have that opportunity.
Losing games like this is exactly what they need to do in order to execute that game plan in the offseason. Of course, there is still no guarantee that they will have a top-four pick. If the lottery odds are cruel, they will owe their pick to the Clippers.
Indiana Wants Multiple Superstars in the City of Indianapolis
Clark had a very injured year last season as a superstar point guard. She hardly played, as she was nursing various injuries. Tyrese Haliburton missed all of this year due to his torn Achilles tendon. He is also a superstar point guard who wants to win big in Indianapolis.
Adding another young superstar to the Pacers roster would give them a real shot at winning a title. They hope that happens as soon as next year when Haliburton is healthy. Of course, the team needs the entire team to be healthy, as well.
Injuries have been a large part of the team’s story this year. That is why they have the second-worst offense in the NBA. Indiana has had multiple starters down with injuries for extended periods of time, making it impossible for them to compete for a playoff spot this season.
Next year, the team is hoping for a different story. Against Los Angeles, Clark still got some great shots and is certainly happy she was able to be a credentialed photographer.
