Steph Curry Gave Tiger Woods His Advice Before Injury Return at Tgl Final

Stephen Curry realizes the grueling nature of returning from injuries, as he has seen former teammate Klay Thompson and himself deal with them during the Golden State Warriors‘ championship or playoff runs.

He’s currently dealing with one now, with a knee injury keeping him on the sidelines for weeks, as he’s watched his team struggle to try to win games without him. More recently, he watched another teammate, Moses Moody, get hit with a brutal torn patellar tendon injury in an overtime win against the Dallas Mavericks.

Due to Curry’s superstardom and popularity, he’s made a lot of connections across other sports, including one of the all-time greats in golf, Tiger Woods. The legendary golf star recently made headlines as he opted to return months after injury to compete at the TGL Final with his team, Jupiter Links.

Ahead of Woods’ return, he received a call from Curry, who reminded him of the powerful advice he received from him back in 2015. At that time, Curry was going for his first NBA Championship.

“What’s up, Tiger? Quick thing, just to jog your memory back in 2015, when I was on that chase, you called me and told me, gave me a pep talk, and I was like, ‘Yeah, imma go out here and do it.’ And you told me to prove it. So I’m just throwing that message right back to you,” Curry said in his call to Woods.

“I love it,” Woods said, smiling, after hearing Steph’s message on his phone.

The golf legend made his return on Tuesday night, competing in his team’s final, a best 2-of-3 matchup for TGL. Woods had back surgery in October 2025, putting him on the shelf for a while, but he decided to return in an attempt to help his team out while Ashkay Bhatia was away for a European tour event.

Woods played nine shots in the event with a 312-yard drive on the "Stinger" hole, but missed a key putt on hole 7 of the event. Unfortunately, he and his team, which also featured Max Homa, lost 9-2 to the Los Angeles Golf Club.

While Woods said he felt pretty good in his return, his status for next month’s Masters remains uncertain. Fans would love to see him back again for that event, which he’s won five times during his career, the last win coming in 2019.

“I want to play. I love the tournament. I’m going to be there either way with The Loop [a short course he designed] that’s going up there, as well as the champions dinner. … We’ll see how it goes. I’ll be practicing, playing at home this week, and keep trying to make progress,” Woods said regarding the April tournament.
