Cleveland Browns star Myles Garrett appears to be enjoying himself despite renewed conversations about his future with the franchise.

The Browns and Garrett agreed to a reworked contract on Wednesday, giving the team added flexibility where it matters most — the salary cap.

The most notable change is a shift in the timeline for Garrett’s option bonuses. Instead of Cleveland being forced to make an early offseason decision, the team now has until one week before the regular season to exercise those options. That extended window provides valuable breathing room as the Browns navigate free agency, the draft, and roster construction.

Garrett benefits from the adjustment as well. The timing and structure of his option bonus payouts were modified to his advantage, resulting in more favorable cash flow. Additionally, $8 million of his base salary in both 2029 and 2030 was converted into roster bonuses.

The move has reignited trade speculation around Garrett, as the revised contract language could make a potential deal easier to navigate if the Browns explore that route. Still, Garrett doesn’t appear concerned with the noise, sharing photos from his latest vacation on social media amid the chatter.

“Some Switz flicks,” Garrett wrote on his Instagram stories, linking to his Man of Tomorrow account, which showcases his photography.

Browns Trading Myles Garrett Unlikely: Report

While the move revved up the trade talks, it doesn’t appear that the Browns are gearing up to trade their superstar pass-rusher.

“They have no plans to trade him,” Browns insider Mary Kay Cabot of cleveland.com.

Zac Jackson of The Athletic expressed a similar sentiment.

“I still don’t see the Browns trading Myles Garrett anytime soon. It’s NOT happening before June 1. And IMO it’s probably not happening by Nov. 1. This is procedural and about what’s best for future decision making. The team decided in 2025 that keeping Garrett was best,” Jackson said. “Yes, IMO, they could get two firsts if it ever happened. Big if.”

Garrett’s value is at an all-time high. He’s coming off a second Defensive Player of the Year honor after setting the NFL single-season record for sacks (23).

Browns DE Myles Garrett Not Interested in Rebuild

It’s also important to note that Garrett has a no-trade clause built into his contract. If the Browns were to try to trade him, Garrett would have to agree to the destination.

But there are some signs that Garrett could want out. He hasn’t appeared overjoyed with the hiring of Todd Monken as the team’s head coach. Monken’s hiring also led to the departure of defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz, with whom Garrett was close.

At the end of the season, Garrett made it clear he wants to play for a contender, and a rebuild is not something he wants to be a part of.

“I’m committed to winning, and as long as the team is doing so and they’re committed to that same thing, then I’m all on board,” Garrett said at the end of last season. “But if we’re thinking anything other than winning — tanking or rebuilding, that’s not me.”

The Browns are coming off a 5–12 campaign and sit much closer to a rebuild than true contention. If the front office believes moving Garrett could return the draft capital needed to accelerate that process, the conversation could resurface.
