Opinion: Mykhailo Mudryk signing flopped, but Chelsea must try another Arsenal hijack

In the 2023 January transfer window, Chelsea swooped in and hijacked Arsenal’s move for Mykhailo Mudryk.

It is something that the Blues must now regret, with Mudryk currently unable to play football.

Whatever the case, Chelsea should be prepared to gazump Arsenal once again as the Gunners weigh up a move for one of European football’s most exciting attackers.

What does the future hold for Mykhailo Mudryk at Chelsea?🤔

Chelsea must attempt Khvicha Kvaratskhelia hijack as Arsenal target Paris Saint-Germain star

According to The Independent, Arsenal are investigating whether a deal for Paris Saint-Germain winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia is possible this summer.

It seems unlikely that PSG will be willing to sell Kvaratskhelia in the next transfer window, but if they are, Chelsea would be silly not to challenge their London rivals for his signature.

They have already seen what the 25-year-old can do first-hand after watching him destroy them in the Champions League last 16.

Kvaratskhelia scored three goals against Chelsea over the two legs, with one of his strikes being a beautiful curler.

The Georgian is easily one of the best dribblers in football. According to FotMob, he is currently completing 2.41 successful dribbles per 90 minutes, which puts him in the 92nd percentile among wingers.

Kvaratskhelia is also quite a versatile attacker, playing on both wings under Luis Enrique this season.

Before his move from Napoli to PSG, Chelsea were interested in Kvaratskhelia. If he becomes available again, they have to make a serious attempt to sign him this time around.

Khvicha Kvaratskhelia a significant upgrade on Alejandro Garnacho

Chelsea fans would undoubtedly welcome Kvaratskhelia to Stamford Bridge, and not just because he is an outstanding footballer. Chelsea supporters have not really taken to Alejandro Garnacho, who would see his game time decrease significantly if Kvaratskhelia arrives in west London.

Kvaratskhelia is a more clinical and consistent attacker than Garnacho and would be an automatic starter under Liam Rosenior.

They have played roughly the same number of minutes in their respective leagues this term, but Kvaratskhelia’s stats are better.

Arsenal will be in a better position to sign Kvaratskhelia than Chelsea. They could be Premier League champions in the next transfer window.

However, even amid all of the chaos at Chelsea, many players still find Stamford Bridge an attractive destination. So perhaps the Club World Cup winners may still be able to attract a footballer of Kvaratskhelia’s calibre.
