NBA Announces Luka Doncic Season Record After Lakers Game

Luka Doncic has been on an absolute tear for the Los Angeles Lakers. The team improved to 47-26 on Wednesday, sitting third in the Western Conference.

The Slovenian superstar leads the NBA with 33.4 points per game, adding 7.9 rebounds and 8.3 assists. On Wednesday, he lit up the Indiana Pacers at Gainbridge Fieldhouse.

Doncic torched the home team for 43 points, six rebounds and seven assists on 15-of-30 shooting.

It is another standout outing for the six-time All-Star, who is playing the best basketball of his Lakers tenure. That scorching run has him breaking another record this season, one that the league itself has taken notice of.

Against Indiana, Doncic notched his league-leading 14th 40-point game of the season. The NBA took notice, posting on X: "LUKA MAGIC ON THE ROAD!" alongside his stat line from the night.

What makes the feat even more remarkable is his six-game road stretch leading up to it. The biggest highlight of this run is his 60-point explosion against the Miami Heat on Thursday.

Doncic entered rarified air. He became the first player since Michael Jordan in 1986 to average 40 points over a six-game span on the road.

He averaged 40.7 points, 6.7 rebounds and 6.3 assists over that stretch. Jordan accomplished the feat during the 1986-87 season, the year he won his first of 10 scoring titles.

With Doncic in the driver's seat, the Lakers are peaking at the right time. Los Angeles has won 13 of its last 15 games.
