Cowboys Get More Disappointing News as Key Player Bolts

The Dallas Cowboys and team owner Jerry Jones have had a busy offseason thus far. While they haven’t made any blockbuster moves, they have improved the roster.

Among the notable additions this offseason are pass rusher Rashan Gary, who was acquired in a trade with the Green Bay Packers. They have also signed veteran safety Jalen Thompson and cornerback Cobie Durant, along with a few other players.

Jones entered the NFL offseason looking to make a splash. He hinted to fans that he planned to spend big money. That hasn’t happened yet, but a new opportunity may have presented itself.

In fact, a new opportunity may have come up that could see the Cowboys make their biggest trade in franchise history.

Dallas Cowboys Could Make One of NFL’s Biggest Trades Ever

On Thursday morning, news broke that the Cleveland Browns had worked out a new deal with superstar pass rusher Myles Garrett. The new deal would make it easier for the Browns to trade Garrett should they choose to do so.

Brett Kollmann of All 32 has suggested that the move could mean Cleveland has something in the works.

“The asking price for Garrett is 3 first round picks (at least),” Kollmann wrote on X. “The Browns doing this makes me think they might have a buyer on the line here.”

Cleveland.com Browns’ insider Mary Kay Cabot has reported that the team doesn’t have current plans to trade Garrett. However, things can change quickly in the NFL.

With the new deal, could Dallas consider making a push with Cleveland to pursue a Garrett trade?

Myles Garrett Would Make the Cowboys a Super Bowl Contender

At this point in his career, Garrett is the best defensive player in football. He is coming off of a 2025 NFL season that saw him break the league’s all-time sack record.

Garrett played in 17 games last year, racking up 60 total tackles to go along with 23 sacks, three forced fumbles, and a defended pass. Throughout his entire 134-game career, he has totaled 412 tackles, 125.5 sacks, 23 forced fumbles, six fumble recoveries, and 18 defended passes.

Now at 30 years old, Garrett wants to win. It doesn’t appear that the Browns are close to being able to offer him that. The Cowboys, on the other hand, could give him that opportunity.

While there is a good chance that Cleveland won’t entertain trade offers for Garrett, this move gives them the opportunity to do so. It would be wise for Dallas to make a phone call and at least have discussions about what the framework of a deal could look like.

If Jones and the Cowboys are truly all-in on pursuing a Super Bowl, trading for Garrett would be exactly the move they should look to make.
