Just over 100 days after his serious injury, the star quarterback posted a short video of himself dropping back and throwing, showing encouraging mobility despite wearing a full compression sleeve on his left leg.
Captioned “Day by Day! Felt great being able to throw the ball around today!”, the clip highlighted Mahomes’ steady rehab progress. In the footage, the three-time Super Bowl champion moved smoothly in the pocket before delivering an intermediate throw, complete with a controlled and confident follow-through.
Shortly after undergoing surgery, Mahomes identified the Chiefs’ Week 1 game in September as his target for a return. However, details around the opener remain unclear, including the opponent and whether the game will take place at Arrowhead Stadium or on the road.

Selected on January 14 in the 2026 UFL Draft, the franchise had hoped his rare size and run-stopping ability would make him a key presence on the defensive line. However, his stint proved short-lived, with the team moving on from him on January 21.
Weighing in at around 466 pounds—approximately 50 pounds heavier than the second-largest player in NFL history—Watson’s size has long set him apart. His move to the UFL was seen as a potential opportunity to revive his career, but the release marks a second setback in quick succession.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers had previously kept him on their practice squad for much of the season, hoping he could develop into a long-term contributor. Those plans ultimately fell through in November after he reportedly failed to meet required weight targets, raising ongoing concerns about his readiness at the professional level.
