The Cowboys continue to be linked to Raiders star Maxx Crosby in blockbuster trade rumors.

The Dallas Cowboys continue to be floated as potential suitors in ongoing NFL trade rumors regarding a blockbuster deal. Yet, it appears the Cowboys may have gotten cold feet.

The Cowboys were among the top contenders to land Las Vegas Raiders star Maxx Crosby before the franchise dealt the pass rusher to the Baltimore Ravens. Now, there is another opportunity to acquire Crosby after the Ravens vetoed the deal as a result of the defender’s medical evaluation.

Dallas likely has more information than most teams given that team doctor Dan Cooper was involved in Crosby’s medical evaluation. ESPN’s Ryan McFadden reported that the Cowboys briefly reconsidered trading for Crosby after the vetoed deal, but it appears Dallas has now moved on.

“Teams continue to check in on his availability, but as of now, the Raiders’ asking price to trade Crosby’s contract remains high,” McFadden wrote in a March 24, 2026, story titled, “How the Raiders-Ravens trade of Maxx Crosby fell apart.” “And given what has happened, teams are hesitant to meet it, a league source said.

“Multiple Raiders sources say they’d be surprised if Crosby was traded in the short term. Perhaps a window of opportunity opens closer to the draft, but the team is certainly keeping an open mind on retaining him,” McFadden added.

“When the Ravens backed out of the trade, Dallas contemplated getting back into the chase. Although the Cowboys did not 100% close the door on a Crosby trade, a source said they were not reengaging in talks.”

Here’s what you need to know about the latest Cowboys rumors.

Cowboys Rumors: Dallas Passed on the Raiders’ Asking Price in a Trade for Maxx Crosby

Even before news emerged about Crosby’s health concerns, Dallas had been reluctant to meet the Raiders’ asking price of two first-round picks for the star. The Cowboys’ best offer stopped at first- and second-round picks, per McFadden.

“Baltimore beat out the Dallas Cowboys, who were also seeking an elite pass rusher,” McFadden explained. “Initial offers centered on Dallas’ second first-round pick at No. 20, and defensive tackle Osa Odighizuwa.

“The Cowboys then offered their top first-rounder at No. 12 and a third-round pick. Ultimately, the Cowboys moved to No. 12 and their second-round pick, but the last two offers, sources said, did not include Odighizuwa, who was traded to the San Francisco 49ers for a third-round selection.”

The Ravens Nixed Trade With Raiders for Maxx Crosby Amid Concerns About a ‘Degenerative’ Knee: Insider

The Ravens passed on the trade citing a belief that Crosby has a “degenerative issue in his knee,” per McFadden. It would be a lot of risk for the Cowboys or any team to take on given Crosby’s contract combined with injury concerns.

Crosby has a three-year, $106.5 million deal that is slated to run through the 2029 season. Dallas trading for Rashan Gary likely plays a role in the Cowboys not being eager to acquire Crosby, especially given the asking price.

With owner Jerry Jones, the Cowboys cannot be ruled out, but for now it appears Dallas is passing on Crosby.
