Philadelphia Eagles star wide receiver A.J. Brown's future with the team looks uncertain at best, and Philly could alleviate that with a trade before the draft.
AtoZ Sports' Adam Holt proposed that the Eagles trade for Green Bay Packers wide receiver Dontayvion Wicks and only give up a fourth-round draft pick and a 2027 sixth-round pick. The Eagles would also receive a 2027 seventh-round pick in the deal.
Holt noted the Eagles' plans with Brown "will stay close to the vest until after the NFL draft" on April 23-25. The Eagles, meanwhile, could use more firepower at wide receiver either way with someone such as Wicks.
"Since the Birds lost Jahan Dotson during the FA period, Wicks can come in and play a role next season alongside Devonta Smith and the other depth options at the position for Sean Mannion's offense, which he should already have a good feel for," Holt wrote.
Wicks would also give the Eagles insurance "if the plan is to trade Brown post-June 1," as Holt noted. One factor that makes a Brown trade more likely is that the Eagles are high on wide receiver DeVonta Smith, according to NBC Sports' Matthew Berry.
"They think, as good as he's been in the NFL, he still hasn't reached his full potential and has ‘another gear' he can get to," Berry wrote. "That, if Smith were given the same kind of target share as Jaxon Smith-Njigba, he could have that kind of year. They believe in his talent that much, and that's among the many reasons they would be okay moving Brown."
Wicks joining the Eagles wouldn't alleviate Brown's departure much, but Wicks showed promise in his first two seasons in 2023 and 2024. He had at least 39 receptions for 415 yards and four touchdowns in each of those seasons.
His play declined with 30 receptions for 332 yards and two touchdowns in 2025.
