Nuggets' Nikola Jokic Hits Rare NBA Milestones Against Mavs

Denver Nuggets star Nikola Jokic added to his many career achievements on Wednesday during a 142-135 win over the Dallas Mavericks at home.

This time it involved his latest triple-double success and another milestone that centers such as Jokic aren't generally known for - assists.

Jokic had 19 assists in the win, as he became the first NBA center ever to dish 6,000 assists in his career. Real App reported the milestone and noted that Jokic had eight consecutive assists with no turnovers.

Jokic had a monster game aside from the record, as he tallied a triple-double of 23 points, 21 rebounds, and 19 assists. He shot 8-19 for the game.

His 30th triple-double of the season put him in rare company. Russell Westbrook, a former teammate of Jokic's, is the only other player to ever hit 30 triple-doubles in more than one season, per ESPN Insights. Jokic had 34 triple-doubles last season, and he has time to eclipse that before the end of the regular season this year.

Jokic nearly hit a rare 20-20-20 triple-double, an achievement he has reached three times before. Only two other NBA players have done this besides Jokic - Westbrook and the late Wilt Chamberlain.

Wednesday's performance was just the latest for Jokic's dominant MVP-caliber season. He's averaging 27.9 points, 12.7 rebounds, 10.7 assists, and 1.4 steals per game.

Jokic posted a triple-double of 23 points, 17 rebounds, and 17 assists just two days earlier against the Phoenix Suns. He helped the Nuggets win a tight game on the road, 125-123, in the process with the game-winning shot.

On Wednesday, Denver won for the third consecutive game and improved to 45-28. The Nuggets sit in the No. 4 spot for the Western Conference playoff race.

Jokic will look to keep the run going on Friday against the Utah Jazz and on Sunday against the Golden State Warriors.
