“Stafford Will Turn 39 Next February”: Los Angeles Rams QB Matthew Stafford Could Potentially…

The Los Angeles Rams finished with a 12-5 record last season in the NFL. Los Angeles went to the NFC Championship game a season ago before they lost to the Seattle Seahawks. Quarterback Matthew Stafford had a tremendous 2025 NFL season and won MVP for the first time in his hall of fame career. The Rams are going all in for the 2026 NFL season.

There could be a chance that the 2026 NFL season could be his last NFL season. This is why Los Angeles is trying to do everything to win the Super Bowl next season. Stafford’s contract will expire after the 2026 season comes to an end. Could this be his final ride?

Matt Bowen of espn.com listed his top free agents at each position for the 2027 free agent class. He has Stafford at the top of the list at the quarterback position. Bowen didn’t really mention anything about a Stafford retirement after next season and said,

“Stafford led the NFL with 4,707 passing yards and 46 touchdowns last season, and won his first MVP award. A master of pocket movement, he can throw fastballs to every level in coach Sean McVay’s system. Stafford will turn 39 next February, and if he continues to play, the tape tells us he can still produce at a high level.”

The 2026 season will decide if Stafford will retire or not. If the Rams win the Super Bowl next season, there is a very good chance that he could retire. Los Angeles will need to find a way to get a quarterback for the future. Maybe they will draft one in the later rounds of the 2026 NFL Draft. Los Angeles will have the 13th overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft. Maybe the Rams will use that pick on another wide receiver.
