Ryan Poles spends Wednesday at Alabama Pro Day where Kadyn Proctor shined

CHICAGO, Ill., — Of the needs the Chicago Bears have, there are a few that are ahead of left tackle in the draft for pick No. 25. But with Ozzy Trapilo likely out for all of the 2026 season, it is a need for the franchise, and it may not be shocking if they attempt to address it once more.

Chicago brought back Braxton Jones and also took a flier on former first-round pick Jedrick Wills Jr. this offseason. Those three will compete with Theo Benedet for the starting left tackle job as of now. However, there's a scenario in which a player like Kadyn Proctor is there at No. 25 and if Ryan Poles does go with the best player available strategy, it could be the pick.

On Wednesday, Poles and assistant general manager Jeff King were in Tuscaloosa for the Alabama Pro Day, getting a up close look at Proctor and other Crimson Tide players. Poles was reportedly the lone general manager in attendance for the pro day and it looks like he was paying close attention to not only Proctor but center Parker Brailsford:

The 6-foot-7, 352-pound offensive tackle is an intriguing prospect. He was one of the top players overall coming out of high school but did flip his commitment a few different times between Iowa and Alabama. He eventually ended up at Alabama, where he had a good college career for the Crimson Tide.

Proctor still has a first-round grade, but at one point, he was considered a top 10 prospect. That has since faded, until Wednesday.

ESPN's Field Yates reported that Proctor had "a lot of people buzzing here at pro day" noting that the movement was good, and you could hear him hitting the pads hard. Proctor may have really helped his stock in this draft, potentially pushing him closer to that top 15 or even top 10 area of the draft.

There's a lot to like about Proctor in terms of his build overall and his blocking. But there are some concerns as well, which has had his stock drop just a little bit. If Proctor is there at No. 25 overall, Poles and the Bears could be facing a very interesting decision to make.
