'I've no sympathy': Roy Keane orders Chelsea to sell key player this summer

It has now been more than a week since Enzo Fernandez dropped a bombshell, that he is unsure if he will stay at Chelsea next season. Roy Keane thinks Chelsea should cut their losses.

Ever since Fernandez said he wasn’t sure if he would be a Chelsea player next season, Liam Rosenior has tried to downplay the comments. As has Fernandez himself, but reports suggest Real Madrid are keen.

Indeed, Madrid would tempt the World Cup winner if they made an acceptable offer. How much Chelsea want for Fernandez remains to be seen, given he was bought for a then-British transfer record, £107m.

How much would Enzo Fernandez cost if Chelsea tried to buy him today? 🤔 💰

Andy Townsend thinks Chelsea might only get between £75m and £80m for the Argentina star. But Roy Keane has now given his verdict on Stick To Football, and unsurprisingly, he did not beat around the bush.

Roy Keane tells Chelsea to sell Enzo Fernandez

Fernandez is a key player for Chelsea. The club’s vice captain, but one that has probably not been as consistent as many may have hoped, especially given he cost Todd Boehly and Clearlake north of £100m.

Keane was presented with the comments in today’s episode of Stick To Football and he responded by saying, that if Fernandez was unsure about being at Chelsea, then the club should just get rid of him.

“He’s a good player, but come the summer if you’re not happy with all that stuff, then you can go. That’s what you do with him. They’ve signed these deals, I’ve no sympathy for them,” Keane said on Fernandez.

What Chelsea are actually planning with Enzo Fernandez

The former Benfica man has a contract until the summer of 2031 at Stamford Bridge, but realistically, Fernandez will not see that contract out. If Chelsea are to sell, they might as well do it this summer.

But according to Kaveh Solhekol, Chelsea do not want to lose the Argentina international. They want to keep him, but according to the Sky Sports reporter, offers of more than £100m could tempt the Blues.

“It would be interesting if a club like Real Madrid were to make an offer of more than £100 million. I think if they were to do that then it is an offer that Chelsea would consider,” according to Sky’s Solhekol.

What will come first, this summer, is the World Cup with Fernandez and Argentina likely to go deep into the competition. Only then, will we learn where Fernandez will be playing his football next season.
