One of the biggest conversations has been surrounding Alabama Crimson Tide quarterback Ty Simpson. He is one of the top quarterbacks in the 2026 NFL Draft class, but people seem to have differing opinions on where he will be selected. Simpson made it clear where he feels he belongs in draft talks, so let’s take a look at what he said.

During the Alabama Crimson Tide Pro Day, Ty Simpson spoke about his future. He was asked if he believes he is a first-round pick and provided the following answer to showcase his confidence:
“Absolutely. I feel like I’ve done everything I can, but it’s not up to me. I just know that wherever I go, I’m going to give it my all and make sure I’ll put my best foot forward. There’s going to be a lot of questions around my name. I know what I’m capable of, and I know whoever gets me is going to get a good player and a guy who loves football and a guy who loves the team and loves being part of something bigger than himself.”
Simpson played well in his first year as a starting quarterback. He completed 305 of 473 (64.5%) of his passes for 3,567 yards with 28 passing touchdowns to five interceptions. It appears that Ty Simpson is the QB2 in this draft behind projected first-overall pick Fernando Mendoza.
Simpson has a private workout with the New York Jets, who hold the second and 16th picks in the draft, on Friday afternoon. It will be interesting to see if he hears his name called during the first round of the draft or not.
