The New Orleans Saints have set out this offseason to build around former second-round quarterback Tyler Shough this offseason and could be about to add a marquee wide receiver during next month’s NFL Draft.
Shough played his way into the opportunity to become the Saints’ next franchise quarterback, after a strong rookie season, and New Orleans went shopping at the top of the free agent market to add running back Travis Etienne. If New Orleans is serious about building around Shough, adding one of the top wide receivers in a loaded draft class could be the logical next step and maybe even a prerequisite.

Over at NFL Media, analyst Charles Davis projects that the Saints could target rising Arizona State wide receiver Jordyn Tyson with the No. 8 overall pick in next month’s NFL Draft.
“Last year, the Saints hit on QB Tyler Shough in the second round,” Davis points out. “This year, they give him more support on the perimeter.”
NFL Draft, Jordyn Tyson
Arizona State quarterback Sam Leavitt (10) celebrates his touchdown run with teammate Jordyn Tyson (0) against the Mississippi State Bulldogs at Mountain America Stadium in Tempe on Sept. 7, 2024.
At 6-foot-2 and 200 pounds, the big-bodied Tyson caught 61 passes for 711 yards and eight touchdowns last season, as a vertical threat and reliable red-zone option.
Pairing Tyson opposite Chris Olave would go a long way towards building a formidable and explosive passing game, in an offense that’s centered on Etienne punishing opposing defenses out of the backfield.
