The New England Patriots made some significant moves to the offensive line this offseason, starting by trading center Garrett Bradbury to the Chicago Bears and signing former New York Jets left guard Alijah Vera-Tucker.
New England's offensive line could be in good shape this season, but the future appears a bit cloudy since right tackle Morgan Moses is 35 and may be nearing the end of his career. However, the Patriots might look to draft a potential replacement for Moses in the first round of this year's draft.
CBS Sports draft analyst Josh Edwards released a mock draft on Thursday, predicting that the Patriots will choose Clemson's offensive tackle Blake Miller with the 31st overall pick.
"Veteran Morgan Moses is present in the event Blake Miller is not ready to start the season, but Moses is also 35 years old," Edwards wrote. "When reviewing how his contract is constructed, it seems evident that the upcoming season will be the last for Moses in New England. If the Patriots could bring in his replacement a year in advance, that is an ideal outcome"
Miller played four seasons at Clemson, appearing in 54 games. This past season, Pro Football Focus ranked him as the 34th-best tackle out of 632 players, placing him 33rd in pass blocking and 60th in run blocking.
It would be nice to see the Patriots take Miller and let him sit and learn this season, and then start him in his second season. Miller has unique tools standing at 6-foot-7, and New England could get the best out of him if it doesn't rush him.
