Aaron Ramsey has revealed that David Beckham sent him a signed shirt after his shocking leg break. The Welsh midfielder sustained a double fracture in his right leg back in 2010 against Stoke City.
In all, he was out of action for nine months, with Ramsey undergoing an intensive period of rehabilitation. Over 15 years since his injury, the former Arsenal man has revealed that he was sent a touching present by England and Manchester United icon Beckham.
Asked if he collects shirts, Ramsey said: “I’ve got a couple of shirts that really mean a lot to me. The one that stands out for me though, is I’ve got a David Beckham shirt personalised when I broke my leg.
“He wrote a lovely message on the back of his shirt, it was a Milan shirt. That’s definitely one that meant a lot and especially going through what I was going through at the time.”
Ramsey went on to make a full recovery and eventually made 369 appearances for Arsenal, scoring 64 goals. He helped the North London side to three FA Cups and two Community Shields during his time at the Emirates Stadium before a free transfer to Italian giants Juventus.
Ramsey spent three seasons contracted to Juventus ahead of moves to Rangers, Nice, Cardiff City and Pumas UNAM. He saw his deal with the latter ripped up earlier this season.
Speaking at the time, Ramsey said: “I would like to thank the Mexican people for their kindness and generosity and making me and my family feel so welcome in Mexico City. I also want to give a big thanks to the manager, the coaching staff and particularly the medical staff for helping me through what was a difficult time with injuries.
“However with their help and a lot of hard work I was ready and match fit for the remaining games and I was looking forward to giving my best to the Pumas. Unfortunately my contract was terminated which was a surprise and obviously disappointing.

“Therefore I had no choice but to come home to Wales. Thank you again for all the support through the time we spent in Mexico. It’s a beautiful place and we will definitely come back to visit soon.”
As he continues his search for a new club, Ramsey has admitted that he is open to moving into coaching. Speaking to talkSPORT, he said: “Yes, absolutely. That's a route that I never thought I'd take, but definitely in the last few years I've done my badges, I'm on the Pro (License Course) at the moment.
“It's something that I really enjoy doing with Cardiff Under-18s at the beginning of that and then obviously I took charge of Cardiff for the last three games which was really good, a great experience.
“I went with Wales last week and that’s a real good insight into everything that goes on behind the scenes. The hours and the effort and detail that goes into those things and preparing the boys to go into those things to execute a gameplan. But it’s addictive, so I definitely see myself going into that space.”
