Sounders reschedule two games, one due to Seahawks conflict

The Seattle Sounders have announced two changes to their home schedule at Lumen Field for the 2026 MLS season.

First, their match against Real Salt Lake originally scheduled for Sunday, April 12 has been moved to 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 23.

Second, Seattle’s match that had been set for Wednesday, Sept. 9 against Sporting Kansas City has been rescheduled for 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 1.

The rescheduling from Sept. 9 comes a day after the announcement that the Seattle Seahawks will begin their Super Bowl defense by opening the 2026 season at Lumen Field on that date.

No reason was given for rescheduling the April 12 match. The Seattle Mariners have a game against the Houston Astros scheduled for the afternoon of April 12 across the street from Lumen Field at T-Mobile Park, but coincidentally the Mariners will host the Astros at essentially the same time – 6:40 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 23 – as the rescheduled Sounders-Real Salt Lake match.

The Sounders are 3-1-1 early on in the MLS season and next play at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, April 4 on the road against Houston Dynamo FC.
