New England Patriots star Christian Gonzalez was having a fun time at TD Garden on Wednesday night. And when the cornerback was shown on the Jumbotron, he sent a very clear message.

While sitting courtside, Gonzalez waved to fans and continued to hype them up before using his fingers to make a money gesture.

And it was quite clear what that was in reference to, as Gonzalez is entering a contract year, with many fans hoping the Patriots and the former first-round pick come to an agreement before the season even begins.

New England also has until May 1 to exercise Gonzalez’s fifth-year option, which would prolong the talks and keep him under contract through 2027.

“Please pay this man alllllll of the money,” another fan wrote.

“This is hopefully the sign that he just came from signing his extension and it will be leaked at any moment lol,” a fan shared.

In a new report from NFL insider Henry McKenna, he revealed that the Patriots and Gonzalez had conversations at the NFL Combine about a potential contract extension.

“I think it’s notable that the newest piece of information I could gather dates back to the combine in February,” McKenna told NESN. “From what I understand, there were preliminary conversations that happened in Indianapolis between Gonzalez’s camp and the Patriots, but since then, I’m not sure they’ve made any progress, so that’s kind of where it stands.”

Gonzalez benefited greatly from a deal done this offseason after the Los Angeles Rams agreed to a four-year, $124 million extension with Trent McDuffie just days after trading for him from the Kansas City Chiefs. That made him the highest paid cornerback in the league… for now.

“I kind of get the sense that Gonzalez is going to make maybe significantly more than that deal when all things are said and done,” McKenna added. “I think, actually, the Patriots probably want to have a little more urgency than Gonzalez’s camp at this point, given the way we’re seeing non-quarterback contracts increase in value.”
