Transcription: Red Raiders speak after NFL pro day

LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) - Below are quotes from outgoing Red Raiders about Thursday’s NFL pro day and the months leading up to it.

**Skyler Gill-Howard** on his return, being five months removed from surgery

“Yeah, I think I performed. Above average, being five months post-surgery, doc told me I wouldn’t be 100% until next month. And I felt great today, 100% today. So, I was really proud of what I did....It feels amazing. Obviously, I went down halfway throughout the season to come out here and actually be able to run on that practice field again. I haven’t done it in a while. It was just an amazing feeling, especially being with my guys, you know, David, Lee, Melo, and the rest of them. It was an awesome feeling. It was surreal, but We competed today and I’m proud of all of us.”

**Romello Height** on what his future NFL team can expect

“Oh man, I’m going to hunt the quarterback. We’re going to stop drives and we’re going to win games. They could they could expect me to give my all and play for the guy that’s beside me.”

**Jacob Rodriguez** on his pro day performance

“It was good, it was good. I had a number that I wanted to hit for bench press and I hit it. And yeah, I was happy about it, happy about my performance. But man, I was more happy about all those other guys like Bryce Ramirez had a day. Caleb Douglas had a day, and it was nice to have more than 100 NFL staff personnel out here. and looking at the guys that we got and especially those four up front and how everything happens that way. I think I had a good day, but man, it was a lot of fun to watch all those other guys!”

**Jacob Rodriguez** on the NFL dream

“It’s why you play football. It’s why you have a dream as a little kid, to be in a place like this who fosters relationships real well and creates that family atmosphere where you got people that want to come out and they actually see the community out here and know that everything out here is real, and it’s not just for show, and so it was good to have everybody out here and see this amazing facility that we have and the amazing people that we have inside the facility, so it was awesome!”

**Bryce Ramirez** on his journey from walk-on to NFL pro day

“My journey’s been crazy from trying out for the football team at Texas Tech to working at Pizza Hut while I’m playing football at Texas Tech to finally getting put on scholarship and just playing on special teams, being happy to run down on kickoff, getting a starting job, breaking my leg, like it’s been insane. It’s really not real. If you would have told me when I was coming into college after I made the team, this is going to be the journey, I wouldn’t believe you. know what I mean? I wouldn’t even believe you that I’d be talking to the media, like I didn’t expect any of this. I’m eternally grateful and This is just all around. This is a blessing. I’m so grateful... I feel like my story speaks for itself. I tried out for a football team in college. I had zero stars, no Division I offers. I wasn’t like other walk-ons. I’m the first guy in the building every single day. I’m the last guy to leave every single day. I know that’s a cliche to say, but it’s the truth around here. You can ask anybody about me. Nobody’s going to outwork me. Nobody’s going to run to the ball harder than me, and I feel like it shows. You can ask anybody about me, and just give me one chance. Just give me one chance and I’ll make sure you never regret it.”

**Behren Morton** on his offseason preparing for the next level

“Man, it was awesome. It was good being back healthy. I really haven’t been able to do much leading up to this. Still at the combine, leg was still banged up. I didn’t get to test there, and so the biggest thing for me was just to get back healthy. I put on about 20 pounds since the season, playing at like 200. I’m sitting at 220 now. My body feels so much better to get the guys one more time back in Lubbock. Man, that indoor, can’t count how many times I’ve thrown in there, so it’s just being back home with the guys.”

**Behren Morton** on now playing with a chip on his shoulder

“The same thing I talked about, having a chip on your shoulder, that mindset of proving people wrong. I love when people are down on me, and they think that I can’t do it, that just fires my fuel so much more, and so this has been awesome. I’ve kind of ended, my season at Texas Tech, not on a great note, but that just picks up a better mentality for me moving forward to the draft process and attacking that.”

**Reggie Virgil** on his time at last month’s NFL scouting combine

“Man, it was so cool. That little kid that used to dream of being there and when I was there, I was just taking it all in, so many teams and me is like grabbing me left and right. And then, just being in the Indianapolis Colts Stadium, their dome, just being in there and then the grass was really nice, and then running around was there too was really cool, so it was just a blessing for sure.”
