Proposed Patriots move nightmare fuel for AFC

The New England Patriots made it to the Super Bowl last season in Mike Vrabel's first year as head coach.

Getting so close and failing, New England, rightfully so, wants to go one better in 2026, but to do that, upgrades are needed.

Romeo Doubs was signed for Drake Maye, while Dre'Mont Jones was added to the defense in free agency, but still, some think more is needed for the Patriots to be in the Super Bowl conversation.

And CBS Sports' John Breech has named one player the Patriots could go after in light of recent events, and that's Cleveland Browns star Myles Garrett.

"The Patriots posted the NFL's worst sack differential last year at minus-13, allowing 48 sacks while recording 35," Breech wrote. "Mike Vrabel will want to fix that, and the best way is adding the league's ultimate sack machine in Garrett. New England did add Dre'Mont Jones in free agency, but Garrett operates on another level."

Garrett to Patriots AFC nightmare

The Patriots' defense under Vrabel last season was already one of the better units in football, and if we add Garrett to that? It goes to a whole new level.

It remains to be seen if the Patriots are still interested in A.J. Brown, and if so, that might make this move unachievable due to cap constraints.

But if the Patriots view Doubs as enough, then they could, in theory, go after Garrett.

One could only imagine the level Garrett could get to in that New England defense.
