Gators shine in 2026 Florida Pro Day

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) - With 68 personnel from all 32 NFL teams in attendance, 13 Gators returned to Gainesville for Florida’s 2026 Pro Day.

Players took part in size measurements and had the option to participate in vertical jump, bench press, broad jump and 40-yard dash before moving into the shuttle and 3-cone. They then finished their day with on-field position workouts.

Caleb Banks, George Gumbs Jr., Devin Moore, J. Michael Sturdivant and Jake Slaughter in addition to others took part in the day and spoke to the media after.

Caleb Banks was unable to participate in Thursday’s Pro Day due to injury, the defensive lineman suffered a broken foot at the 2026 NFL Scouting Combine requiring surgery March 9.

“I know that if I was out there doing drills, I know they’d be supporting me,” Banks said. “I know you need somebody in your corner standing for you, being excited for, even if you just run. So I’m happy for those guys going out there, doing their thing. Hopefully, everybody’s dreams come true.”

Despite his injury, which Banks stated was a re-aggravation of the broken fourth metatarsal bone that kept him out for a majority of the 2025 season, the 6-foot-6 lineman is a hot commodity for NFL teams.

George Gumbs Jr. returned following his 31-tackle season in 2025 and measured at just under 6-foot-4 and 241 pounds.

“I’m going to fit any block, any kind of way you need me,” Gumbs said. “No matter what the occasion is, I’m always going to be face first.”

Defensive back Devin Moore claimed to be faster than his unofficial 4.59 40-yard dash time, but had a good showing ring the vertical jump (34.5 inches) and in the on-field workouts.

“In the NFL, there are a lot of taller guys, bigger guys,” Moore said. “Having a taller corner will help contest that.”

J. Michael Sturdivant put on a solid performance in front of the NFL scouts who didn’t drop a single pass throughout multiple drills.

“I wanted to show that I wasn’t just a deep threat,” Sturdivant said. “I can run the short routes and intermediate routes. Be the full receiver.”

Center Jake Slaughter measured 6-foot-4 and weighed in at 304 pounds, Slaughter knocked out 22 reps of 225 on the bench press.
