Manchester United are in the picture to sign Barcelona’s Alejandro Balde in the summer transfer window.
The left-back came up through the ranks of the La Liga winners’ academy and made his way into first team in 2021.
Manchester United and other interest may please Barcelona. That’s because the 22-year-old’s sale can help him improve their finances, needed to strengthen their squad next season.

Liverpool are also showing interest in Alejandro Balde. That’s according to Friday’s edition of Sport, who report the Reds and Manchester United are ‘leading the way’ to sign him.
Barcelona, for their part, are aware of the clubs that have shown interest in him.
Sport say that apart from the Saudi Arabian clubs, the Red Devils could ‘make a move’ for the fullback.
Michael Carrick’s side are willing to explore the possibility of bringing Balde to Old Trafford if they qualify for the Champions League. They are third in the table, six points ahead of fifth placed Liverpool.
The Catalan club, for their part, are exploring all options and could sanction a sale if there’s a ‘substantial sum’ and the player is open to a move in the summer. As he’s an academy graduate, the entire fee collected will be profit.
Should Balde decide to stay, Hansi Flick’s side would have to open renewal talks at the start of next season.
For the summer, Sport state Barca ‘will listen to offers, but the decision will ultimately rest with the player’s representatives and the player himself.’
Contract, value and agent info
Alejandro Balde has a contract until 2028, and it includes a €1bn release clause, and Transfermarkt value him at €55m.
Agency Gestifue, headed by Jorge Mendes, take care of his interest. The super-agent has close ties with Manchester United, but whether that would favour them to sign his client remains to be seen.
