Arsenal have reportedly been offered the chance to sign a Champions League-winning star
Arsenal have reportedly been offered the chance to sign Real Madrid midfielder Eduardo Camavinga as the Gunners consider their transfer targets for the summer.
Summer transfer targets are beginning to emerge for the north London outfit, who will be looking to upgrade their squad in key areas and could see players leave in order to facilitate incomings. Midfield has been a position under consideration, and the likes of Newcastle United’s Sandro Tonali is thought to be a top target. Camavinga, meanwhile, could emerge as an option for Arteta’s men following latest reports.
Arsenal ‘offered’ Camavinga with Real Madrid future uncertain
Reported by the Daily Briefing, Arsenal have been ‘offered’ the services of Camavinga by the player’s representatives as the 23-year-old’s long-term future at the Bernabeu remains in doubt.
Camavinga is currently struggling to nail down a regular starting spot at Real Madrid under Alvaro Arbeloa and exit links have emerged as a result, with English sides such as Chelsea reported to be interested and Liverpool having already ‘held two round of talks’ with the player’s camp. Reporting states that the France international will only move to a club playing in the Champions League, giving Arsenal the upper hand at present with both Chelsea and Liverpool faltering in their top five hopes. Manchester United could also enter negotiations at a later stage.
A source told the Daily Briefing: “[Arsenal] have been offered Camavinga, but they’ll only go for it if they’re convinced it’s right for them. For now, they have other preferred targets.”
Camavinga is reportedly available this summer for as little as €50million (£43m), a price which is likely to interest the Gunners and other interested parties amid the ‘exciting opportunity’ growing to sign a Champions League-winning star who is still a young player with much room to grow before he reaches the peak of his powers.
Arsenal and Real Madrid are said to have a ‘good relationship’ but that does not guarantee that direct negotiations will go ahead over the transfer of Camavinga, with contact from the player’s entourage still at its early stages at present.
