Chelsea are beginning to identify transfer targets ahead of the summer window
Chelsea are faced with a challenging task to reach their goal of qualifying for the Champions League next season after a difficult run of form left Liam Rosenior’s side outside the top five despite the recent struggles of Liverpool and Aston Villa.
The Blues might be forced into wholesale changes in the transfer market this summer after an inconsistent success rate in their signings of recent seasons. The likes of Liam Delap have already been linked with a swift exit after struggling to settle at Stamford Bridge.
Latest reports indicate that the Blues have been linked with a top Serie A winger as they look to improve their output from wide areas next term.
Chelsea and Liverpool target Francisco Conceicao amid scouting missions
Reports by Sportsboom state that Chelsea and Liverpool have ‘turned their radar’ towards Juventus winger Francisco Conceicao as the two Premier League giants assess their options ahead of the summer transfer window.
The Portuguese has been placed under a ‘specialised monitoring protocol’ according to the reports and is in demand as he continues to shine in Serie A. The two clubs had scouts in attendance during recent Juventus matches against Roma, Pisa and Udinese in order to watch Conceicao, who is attracting interest due to his ‘explosive pace’ and ‘unstoppable’ 1v1 ability, while his mental character is also being analysed by the two clubs.
Chelsea are said to have added the 23-year-old to their ‘project player’ list and are impressed with his technical quality and ‘elite’ balance. Meanwhile, Liverpool are on the search for a successor to Mohamed Salah and have reportedly identified Conceicao as an option on the right wing.
While both Chelsea and Liverpool are both at the ‘monitoring’ stage with Conceicao at present and will continue to assess his performances over the remainder of the season, Juventus are not keen to sell their ‘indispensable’ asset and have reportedly placed a price tag in the region of £52m-£56m on his head.
Conceicao speaks on transfer links away from Juventus
Asked about his transfer speculation while away on international duty with Portugal, Conceicao said: “I know people talk about a big club, but I play for a big club where I am happy.
“At the moment I am only focused on these two games with the national team and then I will focus on the final stretch of the season to help my club as much as possible.”
