Newcastle United are eyeing a move to sign Arsenal star Ben White as a replacement for Kieran Trippier, according to Sports Boom.
The Magpies are expecting a host of changes within their squad this summer as they look set to miss out on European football, with the team currently sitting 12th in the Premier League following their derby day defeat to Sunderland prior to the international break.
One such change is expected to be veteran right-back Trippier, whose contract at St James' Park is set to expire at the end of the season, and now the club are beginning their plans to replace him with another England international.
Newcastle Want Ben White to Replace Trippier

White, who earns around £150,000-a-week at the Emirates Stadium, has found regular first-team football hard to come by this season after losing his starting spot to Jurrien Timber.
The 28-year-old is out of contract at Arsenal in 2028, and with the club looking to continue to strengthen this summer, an exit away for the former Brighton and Leeds star is looking more likely as we edge closer to the transfer window.
Newcastle are also planning ahead for the summer already, and right-back is a position they're keen to bolster with Trippier set to leave at the end of his contract, and strong interest from Arsenal and Man City in Tino Livramento.
White is seen as someone who could immediately step into the role and not see the quality level drop, while he may be affordable considering the Gunners' stance on a sale. The player is also likely to be open to the move if it means he can play more regularly.
White Would Be Excellent Trippier Replacement
Kieran Trippier
While Trippier is more experienced and has great leadership qualities, his time as a top-level performer is dwindling and a replacement should be sought after.
White can provide experience, quality and leadership too with his time at the top level, and for a reasonable fee it could be a shrewd bit of business for the Magpies to do while they look at doing several deals in the window to get back to where they want to be.
GIVEMESPORT asked ChatGPT to compare White and Trippier, and this was its response:
Ben White: More defensively solid, athletic, strong in duels; can tuck inside as CB/invert. Less creative output.
Kieran Trippier: Elite crosser/set-pieces, high chance creation, leadership. Less pace, ageing.
For Newcastle United: Trippier fits system perfectly; White would add defensive stability but less attacking threat.
