Arsenal hero Gyokeres heaps praise on Celtic star

Viktor Gyokeres has praised Ben Nygren for his role in Sweden’s World Cup progress.

The Arsenal striker grabbed the headlines last night with a hat-trick against Ukraine in a match played in Valencia.

That victory sets up a home match against Poland on Tuesday with the prize of a place in the World Cup Finals for the winners.

Former Chelsea boss Graham Potter is in charge of the Swedish national side with Nygren earning a place in his Starting XI against Ukraine.

GYOKERES IS THE SWEDISH HERO

Gyokeres scored in the 6th, 51st and 73rd minutes before Ukraine scored a consolation in the 90th minute

After the match the Arsenal striker praised his Celtic team-mate with The Sun reporting:

I’ve played with Benji a lot before in the under-21 national team. I know him well and he’s done extremely well at Celtic. He’s a great player.

He’s good with the ball and finds good passes. He can also do well inside the box himself.

Nygren has had a mixed first season at Celtic- standing clear as the top scorer with 19 goals.

Normally that would bring repeated awards and praise for a midfielder but with Celtic toiling everyone is under suspicion.

The balance of the Celtic team has been poor, fans have criticised the repeated use of a 4-3-3 system.

Whatever the arguments without the goals of Nygren Celtic would be struggling even more than they are in the SPFL Premiership.

After Tuesday’s match with Poland the focus will return to club matters with Celtic away to Dundee on Sunday.

With seven matches left to play there is virtually no room for error with Celtic trailing Hearts by five points.

Before Celtic kick-off at Dens Park Derek McInnes’ side will have played at Livingston.

Former Celtic defender Gus Lagerbielke started the win over Ukraine with Carl Starfelt joining him asa 37th minute substitute.
