Celtic star praised by teammate and manager after Sweden win

The footballer took up the number 10 spot behind striker Viktor Gyokeres and set up Sweden's first goal in the 3-1 victory.

As well as praise from his international teammate, Nygren caught the attention of manager Graham Potter.

Former Chelsea boss Potter sung Nygren's praises.

He explained: "I’ve been impressed with Benji since I met him. He’s an intelligent player and a very good guy.

"He’s a team player. He understands what we’re trying to do. He’s a super important player for us."

Following their 3-1 result against Ukraine last night, Sweden and Celtic's top scorer, Nygren, are now set to face Poland on Tuesday evening.

Striker Viktor Gyokeres, who has played alongside Nygren in the under-21 team, was also full of compliments for his teammate.

He said: "I’ve played with Benji a lot before in the under-21 national team.

"I know him well and he’s done extremely well at Celtic. He’s a great player.

"He’s good with the ball and finds good passes. He can also do well inside the box himself."
