Alabama QB Ty Simpson could become a top-five pick in the 2026 NFL Draft.

Ty Simpson is quickly becoming one of the most polarizing prospects in the 2026 NFL Draft. The former Alabama Crimson Tide signal-caller is climbing up draft boards and is widely considered a consensus first-round pick.

While the quarterback position is always heavily scrutinized, Simpson seems to be one of those prospects who continually stays in the headlines leading up to April’s draft. It could be that he played for one of the premier college football programs, that he has just 15 career starts under his belt, or that there is still so much uncertainty surrounding him.

ESPN’s Jordan Rogers Loves Ty Simpson’s Footwork

On Friday morning, Jordan Rogers joined ESPN’s “Get Up” and gave a glowing scouting report on the former Alabama star.

Of Simpson, Rogers said: “His base, his feet, and his eyes are always together. And that’s what makes him special.”

Rogers would also call Simpson’s pocket presence and footwork “elite” and the best in the 2026 NFL draft class.

New NFL Mock Drafts Have Ty Simpson Going No. 3 Overall

As the 2026 NFL Draft draws closer, Simpson continues to be one of the biggest risers. Recently, Charles Davis of the NFL Network released his latest mock draft and had Simpson going No. 3 overall to the Arizona Cardinals.

The Cardinals are searching hard for a replacement for former No. 1 pick Kyler Murray, who was released on March 11 and quickly signed a one-year deal with the Minnesota Vikings the next day.

What’s Next For Ty Simpson

Simpson is set to have a private workout on Friday, March 27, with the New York Jets, a team that is widely considered a popular landing spot for him.

The Jets currently have two first-round picks. The second overall pick and the No. 16 overall pick via the Indianapolis Colts.

It will be interesting to follow Simpson over the next month, leading up to the draft. There’s potential he becomes a top-5 pick, but there is also a chance he falls to the middle or ladder portions of the first round.
