The Kansas City Chiefs are researching and meeting with prospects ahead of the 2026 NFL Draft.

We are less than one month away from the big event. Kansas City has a total of nine selections in this year’s draft, including two during the first round. The Chiefs are utilizing their top-30 visits until we get there.

A top-30 visit is a formal meeting between a draft prospect and an NFL team at its facilities. There are no workouts, but players meet with coaches and executives to get a feel if they are a good fit for each other, while also undergoing medical evaluations.

According to a report from NFL and college football analyst Ryan Fowler, Hurst will be visiting with the Chiefs.

Buzz continues to build for Hurst, a 6’3” wideout who caught 71 passes for 1,004 yds & 6 TDs in ‘25.

This continues the pattern of Kansas City meeting with the top wide receiver prospects in this year’s draft, also hosting Carnell Tate and Makai Lemon. Hurst is big-bodied receiver at 6-foot-4, 206 pounds with an arm length of 32 5/8 inches and 4.4 40-yard dash speed.

His size enables him to make catches when tightly defended, especially over the top. Hurst’s long strides allows him to create separation down the field, making him a good deep threat. However, he has struggled with dropped passes a bit, and didn’t play top tier competition in the Sun Belt Conference.

Having a receiver like Hurst who can out-physical defensive backs would be a nice change of pace for the Chiefs’ offense. They usually favor smaller and shiftier receivers, but they struggle to make contested catches and break tackles. In 2025 Hurst recorded 71 receptions for 1,006 yards and six touchdowns. He is projected to be a second or third round pick.

Chiefs Still Need Several Playmakers on Offense

Most of Kansas City’s free agent acquisitions have been on defense after it lost several starters on that side of the ball. However, the Chiefs’ prize signing is running back Kenneth Walker III, who should transform their rushing attack. The focus of improvement on offense now shifts to the receiver position.

The Chiefs currently have seven receivers under contract – Rashee Rice, Xavier Worthy, Tyquan Thornton, Jalen Royals, Nikko Remigio, Jason Brownlee, and Jimmy Holiday. Rice’s outlook is murky at best due to his legal issues. Worthy and Thornton are solid, speedy targets, but aren’t No. 1 receivers. The rest of the cast is largely unproven.

It’s probably safe to assume that Kansas City will select multiple receivers during the draft, and use at least one of their four picks in the top 100 on one. The Chiefs have been linked to several receivers with their No. 9 overall pick. They could also add an affordable veteran after the draft, which potentially includes a reunion with Tyreek Hill.

Beyond wide receiver, the Chiefs could look to add another developmental tight end behind Travis Kelce. They already have Jared Wiley and Jake Briningstool, but it is unclear at this point if they will emerge as legitimate NFL playmakers. If they use an early pick on a tight end, it could take some pressure off of Kelce, while also securing the position for the future.
