‘Far From Finished’: Steelers Among Top Teams ‘Positioned’ To Make A Super Bowl Run, The…

The Pittsburgh Steelers have once again had a busy offseason under GM Omar Khan.

Along with hiring a new head coach for the first time in 19 years, the Steelers went about reshaping the roster in free agency and via a trade, bringing in some veteran talent to try and help the franchise get over the hump in the playoffs.

Now, according to The Athletic’s Saad Yousuf, the Steelers are among some of the top teams in the league that are “positioned” to make a run to the Super Bowl.

“The quarterback position is a big question mark, whether Aaron Rodgers chooses to return or not. Rodgers was serviceable last season but far from his MVP-caliber play in Green Bay. However, assuming Rodgers does return, adding Pittman and Rico Dowdle to the offense will help. The biggest thing is that the Steelers are far from finished,” Yousuf writes. “They have 12 picks in this year’s NFL Draft, the most of any team in the NFL.

“They can still add a lot more young talent or dip into the trade market — or both.”

Things are going very well for the Steelers this offseason, outside of waiting around for 42-year-old quarterback Aaron Rodgers to determine what he wants to do. Quarterback undoubtedly remains the Steelers’ biggest question mark, but the moves they’ve made so far under Khan has positioned them to make improvements at key positions.

Trading for Michael Pittman Jr. was a savvy move, shoring up WR2 opposite DK Metcalf. There’s still more work to be done at receiver but having Metcalf and Pittman at the top of the depth chart certainly improves things.

Landing Jamel Dean in free agency and re-signing Asante Samuel Jr. to a one-year deal gives the Steelers some talent and depth at cornerback opposite Joey Porter Jr. Meanwhile, while the additions of Rico Dowdle and Sebastian Joseph-Day, not to mention safety Jaquan Brisker, strengthens the roster top to bottom with dependable veterans.

Now, they’re well-positioned heading into the 2026 NFL Draft with 12 picks to be aggressive and continue plugging roster holes while adding some high-end talent.

Will that be enough to get over the hump in the playoffs and get back to contender status at the start of the Mike McCarthy era? That remains to be seen. But it’s hard to argue against the belief that the Steelers’ arrow is pointing up at this very moment.
