Magic coach gives update on Franz Wagner's injury: 'If he's available, he's playing'

Reportedly, there have been encouraging signs regarding Franz Wagner’s recovery from his ankle injury, while Jamahl Mosley has not ruled him out for the remainder of the regular season, saying, "If he’s available, he's playing."

After missing 20 straight games, and with only nine remaining in the regular season, there is still no clear timeline for the return of Franz Wagner of the Orlando Magic from his ankle injury.

Orlando Magic / Schedule

According to Jason Beede of the Orlando Sentinel, Wagner has recently taken positive steps toward a return. His G League assignment is seen as a clear sign of progress in his recovery. Meanwhile, Magic head coach Jamahl Mosley has not ruled out Wagner returning before the postseason.

"If he's available, he's playing," Mosley said talking to the media on Thursday.

Still, Mosley made it clear there will be no strict requirement for Wagner to log a certain number of games before the playoffs.

"That's not a rule I'm putting in," he added.

Wagner has appeared in just four games since suffering the injury on Dec. 7 against the New York Knicks.

This season, the German forward has played in 28 games, averaging 21.3 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 3.6 assists.
