A look at the latest on the Arsenal injury front ahead of a title-defining few weeks.
Arsenal are potentially just weeks away from winning the Premier League title, but there is still work to do. The Gunners face AFC Bournemouth and Manchester City in their next two, and they know that wins in both of those games will likely seal the Premier League title.
A crucial few weeks awaits the Gunners on the other side of the international break, and ahead of those games, we have rounded up the latest on the injury front.
Mikel Merino
Merino is out for the rest of the season after ankle injury. Speaking after the operation in February, Arteta said: “Well, I think the doctors were really happy the way it went. Yeah, now it starts. Obviously, it's a long process. You're talking about bone healing, so you need to be patient. You respect the timings, and I'm sure Mikel is going to do everything that he possibly can to speed up the process. We're talking about months, whether it's three, four or five, we don't know.”
Eberechi Eze
It’s not clear how long Eze will be out for at this stage. Arteta said before the break: “No, he's out [of the internationals]. We have to do another scan in six or seven days and wait and see the results. Is it a leg injury. His calf.”
Martin Odegaard
Norway manager Stale Solbakken has said this week: “He has not been involved since we beat Moldova 11-1. It is his last international. Now it is two-and-a-half weeks [until AFC play again in the PL]. I think it could be a goal for Martin to be in a squad... it is within reach.”
William Saliba
Saliba has been battling an ankle injury, but he will be expected to return after the break.
It’s a similar situation for Gabriel, who has been dealing with a knee issue.
Trossard has a hip injury but will likely return after the break.
