Owen Hargreaves calls for Man Utd to sign another England star as well as Elliot Anderson

Owen Hargreaves has urged Manchester United to sign more players in the England national team squad, naming two further options he would like to see at his former club, along with Nottingham Forest ace Elliot Anderson.

The ongoing international break means more time is being spent talking about transfers than football.

For Manchester United fans, it’s a sign of things to come, with just seven games left to play in the Premier League before the 2025/26 campaign concludes.

With that in mind, there’s no shortage of players being linked with moves to Old Trafford this summer. Michael Carrick – or whoever is in charge – will be making plans on what the team is lacking before taking the next step.

Owen Hargreaves calls for Man Utd to sign Cole Palmer or Morgan Rogers

United are doing really well under Carrick. The 44-year-old is in the process of making a strong case to remain head coach beyond this season.

Champions League qualification would aid that massively.

Former United midfielder Owen Hargreaves, who knows what it takes to win the Champions League as a Red, has urged the club to sign players from the England national team while naming Elliot Anderson as the midfielder he wants prioritised to partner Kobbie Mainoo next season.

Hargreaves would like to see United sign Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers or Chelsea’s Cole Palmer, with the latter reportedly homesick in London amid links with a move back to Manchester.

“Bruno has been amazing. Who knows how long he’ll be there?” Hargreaves told TNT Sports.

“I think if you’re United and you’re planning, I would say, right, I want England’s future midfield. So Elliot, Kobbie, and I’d go try and get Morgan Rogers or Cole Palmer.

“And I’d say that that’s where I’d throw the kitchen sink at it. Because I think they’ve got a decent little nucleus here with that. But obviously with Casemiro leaving, you need a defensive one and you need a 10. And I think if you had Elliot, Kobbie, and Morgan Rogers or Cole Palmer, you’re gonna be competing for a while.”

Latest transfer news on Elliot Anderson

The race to sign Anderson is ongoing.

It is clear now that the England international will be leaving Forest at the end of the season, regardless of whether they avoid the drop to the Championship.

The latest from Sky Sports News claims Anderson is not rushing his decision to decide on his next club.

It is understood that no talks have taken place with any intermediaries of other clubs.

Man City are cited as being ‘very keen’ on Anderson, while reports elsewhere suggest they are frontrunners.

That could force United to look elsewhere in their search for Casemiro’s replacement.
