Contact made: Arsenal plot bid to sign Real Madrid 'superstar' as club leaks emerge - report

Arsenal have made contact about a move to sign Real Madrid star Brahim Diaz this summer, according to Sports Boom.

The Gunners have had a remarkable campaign despite their Carabao Cup final defeat, and currently sit top of the Premier League by nine points with just seven games remaining, while they are also in the FA Cup and Champions League quarter-finals.

But Mikel Arteta is keen to continue to build his squad up to turn their one season of success into a dynasty in north London, and he is now eyeing further additions to the attacking lineup to help them against low-blocks.

Diaz, described as a 'superstar', has been at Real Madrid since 2019 when he left Manchester City, although he spent three seasons on loan at AC Milan in the middle of that.

The Morocco star has emerged as a regular in the first-team at the Bernabeu, but with their Galactico-filled side, he has struggled to establish himself as a regular starter, and has often earned praise for his performances off the substitutes' bench.

But as he enters the final year of his contract in Madrid, it has now emerged that the club would be open to selling him for around £38.9m in order to raise funds to bolster their defence this summer.

That has seen Arsenal take a close look at his situation and make enquiries about a deal for the 26-year-old, who Arteta believes would be perfect in the attack alongside captain Martin Odegaard.

The Gunners are said to be preparing an offer worth £29.7m plus add-ons to try and convince Madrid to sell, although leaks from within the La Liga side suggest they won't consider an offer below their asking price.

Brahim Diaz Could Be Shrewd Business at Arsenal

Diaz at a fee of around £35m and wages of around £165,000-a-week wouldn't be the craziest deal of the summer, yet it would still see Arsenal strengthen in attack, and those are the type of deals they need to look for.

Brahim can play on both wings or as a number ten, and potentially even slightly deeper as a number eight if needed, while his technical qualities would undoubtedly see him slot in seamlessly at Arsenal.

With the likes of Gabriel Jesus and Gabriel Martinelli seemingly heading towards the exit at the Emirates Stadium, the Real Madrid star could see it as an opportunity to step in and make a name for himself as a starter following years in the shadows at Madrid.
