Surprise team making moves for Giannis Antetokounmpo, per report

The Orlando Magic reportedly have been "very active" in seeking out Giannis Antetokounmpo's services.

One of the main storylines of the upcoming offseason will be the future of Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo.

Various teams reportedly showed major interest in acquiring Giannis both at last season's trade deadline and in the upcoming offseason, and there could also be some unexpected suitors looking to land him.

According to NBA analyst Kirk Goldsberry of The Ringer, the Orlando Magic are among the teams pursuing the two-time MVP.

"I actually heard there's a mystery team," Goldsberry said on The Bill Simmons Podcast. "I called around as part of this exercise to see who were potentially desperate places for Giannis to land, and somebody who knows stuff told me that Orlando has actually been very active in seeking out Giannis Antetokounmpo's services."

If Orlando ultimately decides to go after Giannis, the potential deal would likely not center around draft picks, as the Magic sent four unprotected first-round picks and one first-round pick swap to the Memphis Grizzlies for Desmond Bane last summer.

Antetokounmpo does not have a no-trade clause in his contract and holds a $62.8 million player option for the 2027-28 season. He will also be eligible to sign a four-year, $270 million extension with Milwaukee starting October 1.

The 10-time All-Star has been on a minutes limit this season while managing injuries to his calf, groin, ankle, and knee. He has appeared in 36 games, averaging 27.6 points, 9.8 rebounds, and 5.4 assists in 28.9 minutes per game.
