NFL Draft 2026: Packers urged to target 305-pound defensive tackle

The Packers have a plethora of needs to address during the upcoming 2026 NFL Draft.

Adding a front-seven defender to bolster new coordinator Jonathan Gannon’s defense might just be the top priority for general manager Brian Gutekunst, and where the Packers invest their first selection of the draft, in the second round.

After Green Bay traded defensive tackle Colby Wooden to the Indianapolis Colts, in exchange for veteran linebacker Zaire Franklin, the position became an instant need in the upcoming draft.

Over at PackersWire, analyst Zach Kruse argues that Georgia defensive tackle Christen Miller could be an ideal target for Green Bay in the early rounds of the draft.

“The Packers got an upgrade by trading Colby Wooden and signing veteran Javon Hargrave,” Kruse writes. “But the change did little to address the glaring roster hole at nose tackle, especially with a switch to a base 3-4 front coming under Jonathan Gannon. The Packers probably won’t use a premium draft pick on a traditional, two-down nose tackle, but Christen Miller appears to have legitimate versatility — with the size and strength to eat up blocks but also the quickness and length to shoot gaps and create disruption.

“Kenny Clark once thrived as a versatile interior defender who could line up as a zero-tech or three-tech in the 3-4 depending on the situation. Miller might be similar at the next level. If available at No. 52 in the second round, the former Georgia Bulldog checks a lot of boxes and makes a lot of sense for Green Bay’s roster. But he currently does not have an athletic testing profile, which could scare off the Packers.”

At 6-foot-4 and 305 pounds, Miller would certainly check the box as a space eater against the run, and the type of player who can generate some serious interior push as a pass rusher.

If he’s available, Miller could be a fascinating name to watch for the Packers.
