ITV send touching message to Roy Keane after death of Man Utd legend's mother

ITV sent their condolences to Roy Keane after the Manchester United legend's mother, Marie, died on Friday. The family confirmed Marie died peacefully while surrounded by loved ones at Marymount Hospice.

Keane was scheduled to be in action for ITV to provide insight around England's friendly match against Uruguay on Friday night before the tragic news. The former Republic of Ireland captain was understood to be extremely close to his mother, frequently travelling home to Leeside to visit.

The pundit described his mother as 'the only boss he'd listen to', and ITV took a moment to send their best wishes to Keane and his family. Presenter Mark Pougatch opened the coverage with a tribute.

He said: "Everyone here and all of us at ITV sends our condolences to Roy and his family on the sad passing of his mother Marie. All of our thoughts are with the Keane family this evening."

A notice on RIP.ie confirmed that Marie had passed and would be "sadly missed by her loving family, sisters Ina, Annette and Josephine, brothers Jack, Leo, Michael and Noel, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, daughters-in-law Linda, Theresa and Mary, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, relatives, her great neighbours and friends."

She is predeceased by her husband and Keane's father, Maurice, who also died at the age of 79 in 2019 after suffering a stroke.
