The Raiders are set to host Najee Harris on a free agent visit next week

The Las Vegas Raiders have been busy this offseason. After a disastrous 2025 campaign, the Raiders are once again starting from scratch, both on the field and when it comes to their coaching staff. Big moves have already been made, but there is still a lot of work to do, particularly when it comes to the upcoming 2026 NFL Draft.

While all eyes are on Fernando Mendoza as he inches closer and closer to being selected with the No. 1 overall pick, Las Vegas isn’t done in free agency just yet. The front office appears to be taking a close look at former Pro Bowl running back Najee Harris, and it has taken a big step towards luring him away from one of their AFC West rivals, the Los Angeles Chargers.

Harris broke into the NFL as a first-round pick with the Pittsburgh Steelers back in 2021, and he immediately earned a Pro Bowl selection as a rookie, when he racked up over 1,650 total yards and 10 touchdowns. While he eclipsed the 1,000-yard mark in each of the next three seasons, the Steelers opted to let Harris walk in free agency last year.

Things didn’t go all that well for Harris, as he picked up just 61 yards on 15 carries before he suffered a torn Achilles tendon in Week 3, which ended his season. With L.A. seeming set to lean on Omarion Hampton as its lead running back moving forward, it seems unlikely that he will be resigning with his former team in free agency.

Right now, Harris is fully focused on his rehab, but he’s beginning to work on finding a new home in the NFL. After previously visiting the Seattle Seahawks earlier this week, Harris will now check in with the Raiders, with new reports indicating this intriguing meeting will take place next Thursday.

“Najee Harris will meet with the Raiders next Thursday, I’m told,” Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported in a post on X.

Should the Raiders Sign Najee Harris?

The Raiders already have their No. 1 running back in place in Ashton Jeanty, but having another option who can complement him in the backfield is clearly something the team is interested in. Harris is a bit of a similar runner to Jeanty, which could make his addition a bit repetitive, but if the price is right, it could be a shrewd piece of business.

Las Vegas could also simply look to the 2026 draft to add another running back to work with Jeanty, but getting a proven talent may be more appealing. Of course, Harris isn’t exactly a sure thing as he works his way back from a serious injury, but the good news for the Raiders is that he doesn’t appear intent on rushing his decision. As a result, this situation will be worth keeping tabs on, but it may be a while before Harris puts pen to paper on a new contract.
