One of the most significant moves the Buffalo Bills made last offseason was signing pass rusher Joey Bosa to a one-year, $12 million contract.

Bosa appeared in 15 games for the Bills, recording five sacks and five forced fumbles. He is currently a free agent.

Bosa Named Ideal Fit to Join 49ers

It doesn’t seem like Bosa will be returning to the Bills this offseason, and he could be a player teams target after the NFL draft. However, Bosa should be able to secure a new home before training camp, with Saad Yousuf from The Athletic suggesting the 49erscould be a good landing spot for him.

“This isn’t just about the fact that Bosa’s brother, Nick, is one of the premier edge rushers in the NFL and locked in long term with the 49ers, although that doesn’t hurt,” Yousuf wrote on Friday. “Bosa had a bit of a resurgence last year in Buffalo, playing in 15 games, his most since 2021. He also made an impact, tallying five sacks and leading the league with five forced fumbles.”

It would be neat to see Bosa play with his brother, Nick, and the 49ers could use a little more edge help.

There was a possibility last season that both Bosas could’ve been on the same team after the Los Angeles Chargers released Joey at the start of the offseason.

Both Bosas Could’ve Teamed Up Last Season

Yet Joey had no plans to play with his brother and decided to sign with the Bills. Nick thought there was a chance the two could have played together last season.

“Maybe for five minutes on the phone with — maybe, I can’t say that — butmaybe for a moment,” Nick Bosa said June 5, via David Bonilla of 49erswebzone.com.

With Bosa now back on the open market, it might be the perfect time for the two brothers to play together, which would be really exciting to see. Both Bosa siblings played at Ohio State, but they never had the chance to share the field, since Joey left the Buckeyes to enter the NFL after the 2015 season, right as Nick was gearing up for his true freshman year in 2016.

The 49ers have come close to winning the Super Bowl over the last seven seasons, reaching the big game twice but coming up empty-handed both times. Perhaps adding Bosa to the roster could finally help them clinch that long-awaited victory.

Bills Agreed to a Deal With Bradley Chubb

Bosa might find a new home this season since Buffalo’s decision to sign pass rusher Bradley Chubb to a three-year, $43.5 million deal at the start of the offseason has effectively delayed Bosa’s return.

The only way Bosa returns to Buffalo next season is if his market takes a hit and he ends up signing another one-year prove-it deal, which would likely be significantly less than the $12 million contract he signed last offseason.

Buffalo is likely to bring in a pass rusher early in the NFL draft, which probably means it will look to select someone at pick No. 26 to pair with Chubb.
