“Heartbreaking Loss” Former Raiders Pro Bowl Center Dies at 52 (Report)

Barret Robbins is a former NFL player who is one of the legends of the sport. The former Pro Bowl center has played for the Las Vegas Raiders, then named the Oakland Raiders, his entire career which spanned for nine seasons.

The former player was drafted by the franchise in the 1995 NFL Draft, and established himself as one of the franchise’s legendary players. However, he has now unfortunately passed away.

Robbins has died at the age of 52 on March 26, 2026. According to his ex-wife Marisa, he passed peacefully in his sleep. It is unknown what were the causes of his death, and it is known he has an unspecified number of daughters surviving him.

Robbins’ long career in the NFL started after his college career with Texas Christian University (TCU). He became a starter from his second season and led the offensive line for much of the late 1990s and early 2000s. He played in 121 games and started in 105 of them.

His best year was in 2002, which saw him earn first-team All-Pro honors and a Pro Bowl selection. He led the Raiders to a 10-6 record in the regular season, led the league in total offense statistics, and faced the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the Super Bowl XXXVII. Notably, he went missing before the important game, which earned him a suspension. The player later said it was due to suffering from a bipolar episode which led to him becoming scared and turned to drinking.

Robbins is known to have faced struggles with mental health, addiction, and related legal issues, including arrests in the years that followed after his retirement. His teammates have written messages of condolences for him.

Hall of Famer Tim Brown played with Robbins and first announced his death on the night of March 26. He was informed by Marisa of it. His message wrote, “Please pray for their girls, his family and tons of teammates who will be affected by this! It’s unfortunate that his life was never the same after he was not allowed to play in the Super Bowl! Rest Peacefully BR, you deserve it!”

His teammate and former Raiders quarterback wrote, “Sad to hear of the passing of my center and former teammate Barret Robbins RIP my brother!”
