Drake Maye had a very good season in 2025 with the New England Patriots. The franchise had a 14-3 record in the regular season and were first in the AFC East. They became the AFC Champions though they lost the Super Bowl 29-13 to the Seattle Seahawks.
Maye is now enjoying the offseason after a tough season. He was recently seen in an NBA game where he interacted well with the crowd.
Drake Maye seen at Knicks-Hornets NBA game
Maye made an unexpected appearance during an NBA game between the Charlotte Hornets and the New York Knicks at the Spectrum Center in Charlotte, North Carolina. He was courtside with his wife Ann Michael Maye, and watched as the Hornets defeated the Knicks 114-103. The quarterback is a native of nearby Huntersville and took the time to attend the game. He is quite beloved there as he played at college level for the University of North Carolina.

During a timeout, the arena announcer acknowledged Maye on the videoboard. Maye then stood up and was given footballs, which he then threw towards the stands. His wife helped ‘snap’ the footballs to him, and both of them enjoyed the act. Fans cheered for Maye as he threw the footballs and attempted to catch them. The Hornets’ hype team orchestrated the setup and the video was shared by the NBA’s official account, which quickly went viral.
Football stars often go to NBA games especially during the offseason, which is an example of the crossover between the two sports. Just a few days back, Travis Hunter was seen during an NBA game at the Target Center between the Minnesota Timberwolves and the Houston Rockets.
Maye had an excellent season, and completed 354 pass attempts for 4,394 yards and 31 touchdowns with 8 interceptions. He also rushed for 450 yards and 4 touchdowns. Even during the offseason, the quarterback is working on improving himself.
Drake Maye practices at Florida Atlantic University
Maye conducted an early offseason throwing session at Florida Atlantic University (FAU) in Boca Raton this week. The 23-year-old was joined by Patriots wide receivers Mack Hollins, DeMario Douglas, and Kyle Williams on the Owls’ practice field.
FAU head coach Zach Kittley was contacted by Maye to help arrange the session, to which he obliged. In an interview with ESPN, he said, “We have mutual friends and he just shot me a text, ‘Hey Coach, I’d love to bring the guys out. Would you be willing to let us come use your facility to throw?’ I said absolutely. I didn’t know him personally until I got to see him Wednesday.” He also praised Maye’s size and accurate throws.
Drake Maye is enjoying the offseason and will soon focus on preparing for the 2026 NFL season.
