There aren’t many recruits that come along like Jordan Seaton — a 6-foot-5, 310-pound plug-and-play offensive tackle who has been projected as a 1st round pick in the NFL draft since he was in high school.
That’s why it was such a coup for Seaton to land at Colorado in what might end up being the peak of the Deion Sanders era — right before the 2024 season — and why it’s such a slap in the face with what he’s saying as he prepares to start anew in 2026 after transferring to LSU.
“My decision to come (to LSU) … it just means more,” Seaton said. “(Coach Lane Kiffin) uses that quote that ‘It’s different here,’ and I really believe that. Being at LSU is different, from how we train to how we work. Everything here is ‘extra’ … just doing what’s required is not enough.”
After going 9-4 and finishing the season ranked in the Top 25 in 2024 as a freshman, Seaton watched the Buffaloes fall off the map in 2025 with a 3-9 record — a season in which the program essentially looked adrift.
Seaton looked noticeably slimmer — he also shared that he’d cut his weight from around 330 pounds in his final season at Colorado to a much more mobile 315 pounds over the spring.
Seaton Could Land Massive Payday After LSU Season
Seaton is almost certainly headed for the NFL after his 1 season at LSU in 2026 — how high he climbs will be based on how he plays against some of college football’s elite competition.
In 2024, Seaton was a Freshman All-American in an offense that featured Cleveland Browns starting quarterback Shedeur Sanders and Heisman Trophy winner and No. 2 overall pick Travis Hunter.
In 2025, he was an All-Big 12 pick and rated as the No. 1 offensive tackle in the transfer portal.
Seaton was also 1 of 3 former recruits who were ranked No. 1 at their position coming out of high school who transferred to LSU to play for Kiffin along with quarterback Sam Leavitt and edge rusher Princewill Umanmeilen.
“BREAKING:LSU has landed a commitment from the No. 1 offensive lineman in the Transfer Portal: Jordan Seaton,” LSU reporter Zack Nagy wrote on January 23. “The 6’5, 330-pound Colorado transfer checks in as the No. 4 overall player in the portal. Lane Kiffin and Co. land their ninth Top-100 transfer with Seaton’s pledge.”
Highest of Praise Coming Out of IMG Academy
Seaton has been flagged as a potential 1st round pick since his days at IMG Academy, where 247Sports Director of Scouting Andrew Ivins projected him as an elite NFL player in 2023, before he’d ever played a snap of college football.
“Athletically-gifted offensive lineman that has a chance to play left tackle at the next level with his quickness and agility,” Ivins wrote in 2023. “Completely reworked his body from the time he first emerged on the recruiting scene as a youngster in D.C. to the time he left IMG Academy … Should be viewed as a potential multi-year starter at the Power Five level and one that can be deployed at multiple spots up front. Must keep his eyes on the prize and embrace the grind as lumps are likely early on in collegiate career, but has the tools to blossom into an early-round NFL Draft pick given how he moves and reacts for someone his size.”
