Smart (ankle) has made recovery improvement, but still out day-to-day.
Marcus Smart is set to miss his third consecutive game for the Los Angeles Lakers this Friday due to his ankle injury, but JJ Redick made it clear that the veteran guard is heading in the right direction in rejoining the team sooner.

In his pregame speech ahead of their Friday home match against the Brooklyn Nets, the Lakers coach announced that Smart is improving in his recovery but will remain out on a day-to-day basis.
“He’s making improvements," Redick said about Smart. "He’s still gonna be day-to-day. I mean that’s the hope. Again he took two hits one to the, one fall, kind of banged his hip up. And the fall on his ankle, so, he’s improving.”
Smart has been sidelined with a right ankle contusion and is also dealing with a hip complication.
Right now, the Lakers can only hope he will have a much faster recovery. Smart has taken the leadership and defensive mantle this year for LA, averaging 9.5 points, 2.8 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 1.4 steals across 60 games.
