The Spanish press has lauded Marc Cucurella for one of his usual performances in the 3-0 victory over Serbia, which will hopefully help him kick on at Chelsea.
Marc Cucurella hasn’t been at his best for Chelsea of late, despite being a regular starter under Liam Rosenior since he was appointed. Regardless of his current form, Cucurella’s leadership and quality make him a vital cog if the Blues are to secure a spot in the top five.
Interestingly, Enzo Maresca named Cucurella as the only player he still loves from his time at Chelsea, which speaks volumes about the kind of player he is.
And his display for Spain against Serbia offers hope that the Cucurella of old is here.
Quarter-final 2! Xabi Alonso or Cesc Fabregas?
Sport came out with their player ratings after the game between Spain and Serbia.
Marc Cucurella received a modest rating of 6/10, but there wasn’t a single bad word said about the Chelsea defender. In fact, it was a glowing review.
‘Tireless’
‘He doesn’t know what a friendly is and always gives his all in any scenario and against any opponent. One of those essential players that any coach wants in his team.’
To put his display into context, Lamine Yamal also got a six. Only four players got above a six.
