Newcastle United are edging closer to launching an official season ticket waiting list in order to get in line with Premier League rivals.
Clubs like Liverpool, Man United and Aston Villa have a clear process in place so that supporters are able to get a fair crack at landing a long-term seat for Premier League games.
Not since 2022 have the Magpies issued season tickets when 1,000 were made available after the takeover.
The days of a 20,000 waiting list during the tenures of Sir John Hall and Freddy Shepherd disappeared during the Mike Ashley era when the Sports Direct magnate was forced to give away 10,000 seats as he faced up to having an empty stadium when appointing Steve Bruce as boss in 2019.
Fans have held a workshop with club officials and the next steps are now being processed for fans to join the list and edge closer to the dream of a coveted season ticket.

At the recent fan meeting, chaired by Michael McCarthy, the following was discussed as per club meeting notes: "The Fan Advisory Board discussed the development and implementation of the season ticket waiting list, covering the agreed criteria, validation processes, communication plans and operational next steps.
"Additional input was provided on data handling and the practicalities of administering the system."
It remains to be seen whether fans must pay a fee for the privilege of being on the waiting list. That is the case at clubs like Villa although many predict it will be part of a membership package at Newcastle with the Mags+ scheme already involving a cost.
The fan meeting unveiled the next steps which read: "Newcastle United to assess operational delivery options against the agreed criteria, identify and address any implementation challenges, an update the Fan Advisory Board on the proposed delivery approach and feasibility, a final review of frequently asked questions and press release content and confirmation and agreement on the official launch date."
