Bronny James revealed that he once beat his father LeBron, in a 1-on-1 at their Miami home, and in response, LeBron broke a backboard. The story comes ahead of their historic first-ever father-son assist in the NBA, which they achieved during the Lakers 116-99 win over the Brooklyn Nets.
Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James has always been competitive, even with his own son Bronny James.
That intensity showed off the court as well: Bronny revealed that during a 1-on-1 matchup at their Miami home, LeBron once broke a backboard.
"The last time I played him 1-on-1, I don't know if this story came out, but he broke a backboard at our house in Miami," Bronny said per Dave McMenamin.
Lakers teammate Austin Reaves jokingly asked if LeBron did it because he lost to his son, and the answer was yes.
"Yeah," Reaves said. "You can say that. Don't leave that out!"
Their bond on the court has also made history. During Friday night's 116-99 home win over the Brooklyn Nets, LeBron and Bronny combined for the first-ever father-son assist in NBA history.
With just under eight minutes remaining in the second quarter, LeBron found an open Bronny beyond the arc. The 21-year-old faked a pass and knocked down the three-pointer, completing the historic play.
The victory was the Lakers' 11th in 12 games, boosting their record to 48-26 and solidifying their hold on the third spot in the Western Conference.
