Rodri responds to Real Madrid transfer speculation after bombshell radio interview

**Manchester City midfielder Rodri has responded to his controversial interview opening a door to joining Real Madrid amid uncertainty over his club future.**

The 29-year-old is into the final 15 months of his current deal at the Etihad Stadium and is expected to hold future talks with club bosses in the coming months.

Rodri has returned to regular first-team football since January after an injury-ravaged 18 months on the sidelines, having recently said he feels like the “Rodri of old” as the Blues eye a domestic treble.

The Spain international has been linked with a potential move to Real Madrid after admitting he would not ignore transfer interest from the Spanish capital despite his background at Atletico Madrid.

In a fresh interview after Spain’s 3-0 win over Serbia on Friday night, Rodri has clarified his comments on his Manchester City future and him being open to returning to Spain.

“Well, I’m used to it,” the midfielder said as quoted by [Mundo Deportivo](https://x.com/mundodeportivo). “If, out of a 50-minute interview, they cut out whatever they want – in the end, I don’t have much more to say. I’m a person who speaks directly. The interview is there if you want to listen to it in its entirety, and not just certain snippets.”

**This is a developing story. More to follow.**
