Luka Doncic could lose more than $300K after 16th technical foul

Luka Doncic faces a one-game suspension after reaching the NBA’s technical foul limit, which could cost him roughly $317,000.

Los Angeles Lakers superstar Luka Doncic is set to miss a game after reaching the NBA's technical foul limit during Friday's home matchup against the Brooklyn Nets.

The 16th technical foul of the season puts Doncic on the verge of a one-game suspension, which could cost him a significant portion of his salary.

If the suspension stands, Doncic would forfeit 1/145th of his annual salary, which is roughly $317,000, for missing the upcoming game against the Washington Wizards, per ESPN.

The technical came during an offensive foul with 5:12 remaining in the game, after which Doncic and Nets forward Ziaire Williams exchanged words on the court.

Though the financial hit is steep, it may not affect the Lakers' momentum. Doncic has been dominant in recent games, averaging 39.7 points on 48.9% shooting (39.3% from three), 8.1 rebounds, 6.9 assists, and 2.5 steals over the past 12 games.

During that stretch, the Lakers have gone 11-1, and Doncic was named Western Conference Player of the Week for the second straight week on Monday.
