Arsenal are increasingly expecting Gabriel Jesus to move on this summer, with fresh reporting pointing firmly towards a continued stay in European football rather than a return to Brazil.
The 28-year-old’s current contract runs until June 2027. However, there is now a growing understanding that he will not renew, with his next move already being shaped behind the scenes.
That follows another difficult season on the fitness front. Gabriel Jesus has played 21 of Arsenal’s 46 matches so far, starting just seven. He has scored five goals and provided one assist.
Those numbers reflect his disrupted campaign. The forward only returned in December after 11 months out with a serious knee ligament injury. Still, when available, he has remained useful for Mikel Arteta, especially in pressing and link-up phases.
Even so, the direction now seems clear.
Europe plan takes priority
According to Brazilian outlet UOL, Gabriel Jesus has no intention of returning to Brazilian football in the short term. Instead, his priority is to remain in Europe and secure another long-term contract.
The report states his camp are already expecting concrete offers in the next transfer window. The plan is to sign a deal lasting three or four years, extending his time at the top level before any eventual move back to Brazil.
That timeline effectively rules out an immediate return to Palmeiras, despite the emotional connection and recent visits to the club.
Agent switch hints at next destination
Gabriel Jesus has also made a significant off-pitch move that supports this strategy. As we covered in January, he changed agents and is now represented by Italian intermediary Giovanni Branchini.
Branchini is one of the most established figures in European football, with strong influence across the Italian market in particular. His network includes relationships with clubs in Serie A and beyond.
That shift is unlikely to be coincidental. It suggests Gabriel Jesus is positioning himself for a move within Europe, potentially with Italy emerging as a serious option.
We have been following closely AC Milan’s efforts to sign him, and more suitors can emerge in the next few months.
What happens next
Gabriel Jesus has not publicly spoken about his next club or which country he’d like to move to. However, the outline of his plan is now well defined.
Arsenal are heading towards a summer wheredecisions will need to be made. The player wants to stay in Europe, secure a stable contract and reassert himself at a high level.
With a new agent in place and interest expected to develop, the next steps could come quickly.
For now, a return to Brazil looks like something for later in his career. The immediate focus remains firmly on Europe – and possibly a new chapter in Italy.
